Assessment roles decide what each collaborator can do on a shared assessment. Roles are defined under Admin > Roles > Assessment and applied when the assessment is shared. Use this article as the permission reference.
Cirrus ships with three default roles: Author, Co-Author, Reviewer. A System Admin can fully customise them.

Sorting
The Sorting row changes column order in the matrix. It is a display setting only and does not change permissions. The highest number appears furthest left, typically the System Administrator.

Status management
Items move through a status workflow. Status management decides which statuses each role can see and change.
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Draft | Assessments in draft. |
| Live | Assessments that are Live. |
| Archived | Archived assessments. |

Per status, choose:
- Deny: assessments with this status are hidden from the role's overview.
- Modify: the role can see assessments with this status and change to or from it.
- View: the role can see assessments with this status but cannot move items to or from it.
Default role for the assessment creator
When a new assessment is created, the creator is automatically assigned one of the roles. Set this default under the same role matrix. Only one role can be the default at a time, and it is normally the owner role.
