Voiding attempts

Prev Next

During the marking process, a candidate's attempt can be voided at several stages. This article explains how.

If a candidate is found to be cheating, for example, you may wish to void their assessment attempt.

There are four methods to void a candidate's attempt:

  1. By invigilator (only during the exam)
  2. By marker on the submission page (during marking)
  3. By result publisher (during publishing of results)
  4. Via API (integration)

1. Voiding by invigilator (only during the exam)

Invigilators can void candidates during an ongoing exam. See the Invigilator Actions article for details.

2. Voiding by marker on the submission page (during marking)

This action requires the Void attempts permission, set via Admin > Roles > Site > Marking > Void attempts.

This allows markers to see the void option on the Marking > Assess > Submissions page for a schedule.

Permission also activates voiding on the Marking > Result tab

Voiding on the submission page is only possible for results that have not yet been submitted. Already submitted results can be voided by the user who publishes results (see method 3).

Voided results must still be submitted and published. They appear in reporting with the status Voided.

3. Voiding by results publisher (during publishing of results)

The Void attempts permission is also required for this method, set via Admin > Roles > Site > Marking > Void attempts.

Permission also shows voiding option on Marking > Assess > Submissions tab

This option allows users who can publish results to void one or more candidates. The voided result must still be published to finalise the results.

4. Voiding via API (integration)

In addition to voiding via the user interface, candidates can also be voided via the API:
