The Select from list (SFL) item type embeds dropdowns in a sentence. The candidate picks the correct option from each dropdown. Use this article to create a SFL item.
Select from list is auto-scored.

Create a Select from list item
In a collection, select + Add and choose Select from list.
- Enter the title for internal use.
- Enter the question in the rich text editor.
- Enter the answer text in the answer box.
- Highlight the word or phrase you want to turn into a dropdown and select + Create blank. Repeat for each dropdown you need.
- For each blank, add distractor options separated by commas. Distractors appear alongside the correct answer in the dropdown.
- Set the maximum score.
- Save and close.
Distractors that contain commas
When a distractor contains a comma (for example a price like € 3,49), wrap the value in quotation marks and use commas to separate distractors: "€ 3,49", "3,49".
To remove a blank, select Remove at the end of its row. To edit a blank, hover and select it.

Scoring type
Select from list uses dichotomous scoring by default. Switch to polytomous in Options to award partial credit when only some blanks are correct. See Polytomous and dichotomous scoring.
