You can create Numeric questions in Cirrus. Simply go to your Library, create or select a collection and click ‘+ Add’ or use the drop-down arrow to select this question type. You will be presented with the screen below.
The Numeric question type allows the candidate to enter a numeric response in order to answer the question. This can include alphanumeric characters as well if you wish, although you can set the question up so that they are ignored.
Enter the Title
Write down your Item title here. This is for internal use only; this title will be visible in your Library and further in the process. This title is not visible for candidates taking their exam.
Enter the question
Click inside the text box to enter (or edit) your question. Use the text editor for a range of text editing options.
For this question type it may be useful to insert a table into the question box. You will find table options in the text editor.
Enter the answer
Enter the correct answer. You have the option to enter either a specific value, or a range.
- Specific value:
The candidate has to enter the exact value to score - Range:
Setting a range means that any number given between the minimum and maximum values stated will be marked as correct.
You can add as a Specific value or Range an Exponential answer such as 1.24E-16. The format will be: X.XeX, for example 1.24E-16. The answer field will be highlighted and will show a warning when the format is incorrect.
Workout box
‘Include a working out box for candidate’ gives the candidate room to take notes / note down calculations. These notes will not be stored and are not available to the assessor.
Use 'Options' to include a workout box that will store notes which are available to the assessor.
Decimal marker
You can set the decimal delimiter to a dot or comma. Other delimiters will be ignored.
Set maximum score for this question
You will also have to set a maximum score for the question. Simply enter a number into the box.
Save, close, preview & cancel
- Click the ‘Save’ button to save the item.
- Click ‘Save and Close’ if you wish to return to your collection overview.
- You can use the ‘Preview’ button to see what the question will look like to the candidate and make sure that the correct answer receives the correct marks.
- Hit 'Cancel' to exit the question editor. You will be see a warning about savingthe page, otherwise your data will get lost.
