# Manually add users

***Use this guide to add individual users. For bulk imports, use the [Excel import](/v1/docs/importing-users) functionality.***

To [add](https://help.cirrusassessment.com/docs/manual-administration-of-users#add-user), [edit](https://help.cirrusassessment.com/docs/manual-administration-of-users#update-user), or [remove](https://help.cirrusassessment.com/docs/manual-administration-of-users#delete-user) users, go to **Admin > Users**.

              Permissions in Roles

To manage users, you need the **Manage users** permission under **Roles > Administration > Manage users**. A System Admin can also grant this permission at the hierarchy group level.

#### Add user

1. Go to **Admin > Users**.
2. Click **Add new user**.
3. The **Add user** dialog opens.
4. Complete the required fields. See [User fields](https://help.cirrusassessment.com/docs/manual-administration-of-users#user-fields) for details.
5. Click **Save**.

After adding the user, open their record to review [permissions and hierarchies](https://help.cirrusassessment.com/docs/user-management-start-here#permissions) on the **Hierarchy** tab.

#### Update user

1. Go to **Admin > Users**.
2. Search for the user.
3. Click on the user to open their record.
4. The **General** tab opens with the user's information.
5. Edit the required fields and save.

Click the **Hierarchy** tab to update [permissions and hierarchies](https://help.cirrusassessment.com/docs/user-management-start-here#your-permissions-as-an-admin-and-the-permissions-you-can-set-for-users-).

#### Delete user

1. Go to **Admin > Users**.
2. Search for the user.
3. Select the user in the overview and click **Delete**.
4. Confirm when prompted.
