The Extended multiple choice (EMC) item type combines two or more Multiple choice questions that share a context. The candidate sees every part on a single page. Use this article to create an EMC item.
EMC is auto-scored.

Create an EMC item
In a collection, select + Add and choose Extended multiple choice.
- Enter the title for internal use.
- Enter the first question in the rich text editor.
- Enter the answer alternatives for the first question. Two appear by default. Use Add alternative to add more or Remove to delete one.
- Mark the correct alternative.
- Repeat the question and alternatives for part 2 (and any further parts).
- Select Add question to add more parts to the same EMC.
- Set the maximum score for the whole item.
- Save and close.
When to use EMC
Use EMC when the parts of a question only make sense together, for example a case study that asks the candidate to draw multiple conclusions. Each part is scored individually, but the candidate sees them on the same page so the context stays in view.
Options
