The Extended match item type is like Match, but lets the same choice match more than one item, and supports distractors that match nothing. Use this article to create an Extended match item.
Extended match is auto-scored.

Create an Extended match item
In a collection, select + Add and choose Extended match.
- Enter the title for internal use.
- Enter the question in the rich text editor.
- Enter the choices on the left and the matches on the right. Two pairs appear by default.
- Select + Add choice to add more choices, + Add match to add more matches, or Remove to delete an entry.

- Set the maximum score.
- Save and close.
Scoring type
Extended match uses dichotomous scoring by default. Switch to polytomous in Options for partial credit on partial matches. See Polytomous and dichotomous scoring.
Item-specific options
Open Options to set the maximum number of selections the candidate is allowed:
- Equal to correct options: candidates can make as many matches as there are correct matches.
- No limit: candidates can match every choice to a match.
See Item options for the general options.
