# Candidate summary screen

Once you have selected a candidate to begin scoring, the **Candidate Summary** screen opens, showing a summary of the candidate's responses to each question in the assessment.

              Filter: View by

              

When the **View by** filter is set to **Candidate**, the Candidate Summary screen opens directly. When set to **Item**, you are taken to the scoring page.

Select an item for manual scoring. Items requiring manual scoring have no score in the **Total score** column and display a **Needs assessment** link. In the example screenshot, this applies to question 1.

Click the **Needs assessment** link to open the **View and Mark Questions** screen.
