Manually add users

Use this guide to add individual users. For bulk imports, use the Excel import functionality.

To add, edit, or remove users, go to Admin > Users.

Permissions in Roles

To manage users, you need the Manage users permission under Roles > Administration > Manage users. A System Admin can also grant this permission at the hierarchy group level.

Add user

  1. Go to Admin > Users.
  2. Click Add new user.
  3. The Add user dialog opens.
  4. Complete the required fields. See User fields for details.
  5. Click Save.

After adding the user, open their record to review permissions and hierarchies on the Hierarchy tab.

Update user

  1. Go to Admin > Users.
  2. Search for the user.
  3. Click on the user to open their record.
  4. The General tab opens with the user's information.
  5. Edit the required fields and save.

Click the Hierarchy tab to update permissions and hierarchies.

Delete user

  1. Go to Admin > Users.
  2. Search for the user.
  3. Select the user in the overview and click Delete.
  4. Confirm when prompted.

Deleted users are quarantined for 30 days in the Trash Can.

User fields

Most user fields are self-explanatory. Fields in bold* are mandatory (First Name, Last Name, Username/Password, (Cirrus) Role, and for candidates also the User ID).

User information Description Example
First Name* First name of the user John
Last Name* Last name of the user Smith
Username* Username used to log in to the Cirrus platform johnsmith or johnsmith@example.com
Password* A personal secure password with at least 5 characters n/a
Select role* The role defines the type of user. See Admin > Roles Candidate, System Administrator, Author
User ID* Unique ID within Cirrus to identify a user; also used for API integrations. Optional for non-participants johnsmith or johnsmith@example.com
Synchronisation key (deprecated) The sync ID is a unique identifier for external integrations 0fcf0639-a0ea-4274-abe9-ac9290c43999
Special needs When enabled, the user may receive extra time depending on assessment options n/a
Enable Readspeaker Enables the user to have text read aloud Only visible when the add-on is activated
Labels Labels add metadata to users See Labels
Allow login via these IP addresses Restrict login to specified IP addresses See more info
Time zone The user's time zone. Defaults to the regional settings value Can only be set via Excel import
